Nvidia Tegra 4i Release, Quad Core for Cheap Smartphone,
Nvidia has Tegra 4i, the first Tegra chip with an integrated LTE modem which allegedly will be the opponent equal to the Snapdragon S4 from Qualcomm.
LTE Modem "i500 Nvidia" Tegra embedded within 4i built using technology from Icera, radio and wireless semiconductor company Nvidia acquired in 2011. Modem offers 4G LTE speeds up to 100 megabits per second and is compatible with a variety of 4G and 3G cellular networks.
On its own processor, Tegra 4i has four ARM Cortex A9 cores (not A15 as the Tegra 4) speed of 2.3 GHz with an additional cores to save power when doing light tasks.
Graphics processing unit (GPU) 4i Tegra has 60 cores or five times more than the Tegra 3 processor. All of it-including modem-compressed in the overall package size of only 1.2 mm square, much smaller than the Tegra 4 by 2.7 mm square.
Nvidia claims Tegra 4i can play full-HD video (1080p) on the 5-inch screen.
This processor is intended for mainstream smartphone products with a price range of 100 to 200 dollars. As for the "brother", Tegra 4, will target high-end smartphone segment and tablet devices.
